Marjorie Taylor, CRS, GRI, of Watson Realty Corp., participated in the National Association of REALTORS® Midyear Legislative Meetings in Washington DC. During these meetings, NAR members took an active role in advancing the industry and the public policy agenda.
“Some of the exciting news” says Marjorie Taylor “was HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan’s announcement that funds from the $8,000 First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit would be available for FHA financing, which would permit home buyers to utilize their tax creditsfor down payments.” The $8,000 credit combined with today’s low interest rates and ample inventory puts buyers in a position of strength, make buying a home more affordable than it has been in years. “Homeownership is truly an investment in your future. People should make home buying decisions based on their family needs and local market conditions rather than be influenced by the negative national reports. These reports often have little relevance on an individual level. If you are thinking about making a move the first thing I would recommend would be to consult with an expert in the local market to learn about your options.”
Additionally, Marjorie Taylor represented the local Women’s Council of REALTORS® in numerous Technology, Leadership and Business Development Forums. These helped to enhance her successful business as well as develop stronger relationships with consumers. “I am a firm believer in continuing education and involvement in the Associations of our industry. NAR provides professional REALTORS® with quality training and up to the minute legislative information that is critical in this new real estate market. The conference enhanced my skills and gave me new tools to lead my business to the higher professional level.”
